ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Rangers outfielder Milton Bradley was out of the starting lineup for the second straight game Thursday because of a strained left quadriceps.
Texas manager Ron Washington said the problem wasn’t serious, but didn’t want to take any chances of further injury on a field wet from morning rains. The Rangers played Atlanta in a series finale.
Bradley is hitting .330 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs and is leading the AL in on-base average.
“He’s not ready yet, we want to give him more time,” Washington said before the game. “We don’t want him to go out there and slip. The quad is better, but not good enough. The trainers felt it was best if we wait.”
Washington said he was “hopeful” that Bradley would be available for a weekend series against the Washington Nationals.
Washington insisted that the injury wouldn’t be a long-term problem.
“We just want to make sure,” Washington said.
Bradley exited Tuesday night’s 7-5 victory over the Braves after injuring his leg on a two-run single in the third inning.
