MIAMI (AP) -The Cleveland Indians recalled left-hander Jason Stanford from Triple-A Buffalo in time for him to start Thursday's game against the Florida Marlins.
It was Stanford's first appearance in the majors since April 2004. He had reconstructive elbow surgery that summer.
Stanford was 4-1 with a 3.41 ERA in 12 games at Buffalo this season. To make room for Stanford, the Indians optioned Matt Miller to Double-A Akron.
