MIAMI (AP) -The Florida Marlins placed right-handed reliever Henry Owens on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with inflammation in his right shoulder.
The move is retroactive to June 9.
Owens is 2-0 with four saves and a 1.96 ERA in 22 appearances this season. To take his spot on the roster, the Marlins recalled right-hander Lee Gardner from Triple-A Albuquerque. Gardner, who last appeared with the Marlins on May 30, is 1-2 with a 3.58 ERA in 22 games this season.
Also Wednesday, the Marlins claimed left-hander Chris Seddon off waivers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and assigned him to Carolina, their Double-A affiliate.
