MILWAUKEE (AP) -The Milwaukee Brewers have cut ties with veteran right-hander Jeff Weaver, releasing him from their Triple-A Nashville affiliate Thursday.
Weaver signed with Milwaukee and agreed to pitch in the minor leagues in April after no team was willing to give him a job in the major leagues. He went 2-4 with a 6.22 ERA in nine starts in Nashville.
Under terms of the deal he signed with the Brewers, he could have become a free agent if the team hadn’t added him to its major league roster by Sunday.
Weaver was 7-13 with a 6.20 ERA in Seattle last season.
