NEW YORK (AP) -The New York Mets have decided to move achy right-hander John Maine back a day and start Livan Hernandez against the New York Yankees on Friday night.
Maine says he has some discomfort in the back of his shoulder. He had shoulder surgery in September, but he says his latest ailment is no big deal.
Maine lasted a season-low four-plus innings in his last start, allowing seven runs and six hits in New York’s 7-1 loss at Washington on Sunday.
The Mets were off Monday, so Hernandez will be working on regular rest. Maine is expected to start Saturday.
