MILWAUKEE (AP) -When the Colorado Rockies finally return home at the end of this week, their fans might not recognize them right away.
Recently named new manager Jim Tracy suddenly has the Rockies rolling on the road, and they managed more of the same Tuesday night. Trailing by two runs going into the seventh inning, the Rockies rallied to take the lead and went on to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 for their sixth win away from home.
Tracy said this streak, not their slow start, represents the real 2009 Rockies.
“I don’t think our record is indicative of the type of team we are,” Tracy said.
It was a big night for recent Triple-A call-up Carlos Gonzalez, who had a pair of doubles and an RBI. Colorado might have started slow under Clint Hurdle, who was fired May 29, but Gonzalez has known nothing but winning under Tracy since he was recalled June 5.
“Jim’s been great,” Gonzalez said. “He’s given me a chance to play and help this team win, and that’s all you can ask for.”
In the seventh, back-to-back doubles by Troy Tulowitzki and Gonzalez cut the Brewers’ lead to 2-1. Milwaukee starter Braden Looper left the game, and Gonzalez stole third base off reliever Mark DiFelice.
the lead when Clint Barmes’ sacrifice fly to center scored Smith and put Colorado ahead 3-2.
“The bottom line for tonight is, I blew it,” Coffey said. “I come into that situation right there, I’ve got to keep that run from scoring. Tonight’s on me.”
Rockies starter Jason Hammel left after six, Matt Daley and Manuel Corpas shut the Brewers down in the seventh and eighth, and Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 10th save.
Hammel (3-3) gave up two runs and five hits in six innings.
“We’re feeding off each other right now,” Hammel said. “We’re having fun and smiling.”

At New York, David Wright, Carlos Beltran and Ryan Church homered to help ace Johan Santana overcome a rare off night.
Santana (8-3) tied his career high by allowing four home runs for only the second time in 221 major league starts, allowing drives to Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley.
But Santana also helped himself with his bat, hitting a tying double in the sixth off Clay Condrey (4-1).
