CLEVELAND (AP) -The Indians recalled infielder Josh Barfield from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, desperately looking to add some production to their struggling lineup.
Barfield was batting .255 with five home runs and 21 RBIs at Buffalo. Last season with the Indians, Barfield hit .243 with three home runs and 50 RBIs.
Barfield was to join the club as it closes a four-game series at Detroit Monday night.
Cleveland sent down infielder Asdrubal Cabrera, who turned the 14th unassisted triple play in major league history on May 12.
Cabrera could not get things going at the plate, hitting just .184 with a home run and 14 RBIs in 52 games.
