MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Left fielder Jason Kubel sprained his right knee and left the Minnesota Twins’ game against the Washington Nationals after the third inning Saturday night.
It was unclear how Kubel, who was replaced by Lew Ford in the top of the fourth, was injured. Team spokesman Mike Herman said Kubel was day to day and would be re-evaluated Sunday.
Kubel missed the entire 2005 season after a major injury to his left knee and was bothered by soreness in both knees throughout the second half of 2006.
He started slowly this year, but entered Saturday’s game with six hits and two homers in his last 19 at-bats while establishing himself as the regular left fielder.
