TORONTO (AP)-Toronto Blue Jays catcher Sal Fasano left Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the eighth inning with an undisclosed injury. He was replaced by Jason Phillips.
Fasano appeared to injure himself when Carl Crawford struck out swinging but reached base on a passed ball.
After the play, Fasano came to the mound to talk with right-hander Josh Towers and doubled over in pain. Towers motioned to the dugout for the trainer, but Fasano waved him off.
Fasano remained in the game for three more batters before Phillips took over.
Fasano is batting .179 with one home run and three RBIs in 14 games for Toronto this season.
