SAN DIEGO (AP) -Padres ace Jake Peavy left Tuesday night’s start against Philadelphia after just one inning, the shortest outing of his career. The team said he had the flu.
Peavy, the 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner, allowed four runs on three hits, two walks and a sacrifice fly.
His previous shortest start was two innings at Arizona on Aug. 25, 2003, his first full big league season.
Peavy, who has been bothered by tendinitis in his right ankle, was replaced by Josh Geer.
