KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Kansas City Royals claimed catcher Brayan Pena off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Friday and made room on their 40-man roster by transferring right-hander Luke Hudson to the 60-day disabled list.
To make room for Pena on the 25-man roster, left-hander Neal Musser was sent to Triple-A Omaha.
Pena, 26, is a switch-hitting catcher who was hitting .286 with three runs scored and one double this season for the Braves, all as a pinch hitter.
He will become the ninth Cuban-born player to appear for the Royals.
