CHICAGO (AP) -The Colorado Rockies purchased the contract of left-hander Glendon Rusch from Triple-A Colorado Springs, and the left-hander will start Saturday’s game against the Chicago Cubs.
The Rockies optioned lefty Josh Newman to Colorado Springs. He was 0-0 with a 9.35 ERA in eight relief appearances.
The 33-year-old Rusch was signed to a minor league deal by the Rockies after pitching earlier this season for the Padres. He has also pitched for the Royals, Mets, Brewers and Cubs.
Rusch is 61-96 in an 11-year career. He was 1-2 with a 6.41 ERA in 12 games for San Diego this year, then refused an outright assignment to the minors in early May and became a free agent.
