PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Shortstop Hanley Ramirez has been held out of the Florida Marlins’ starting lineup with tightness in his right groin.
Ramirez left Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss at Philadelphia in the third, shortly after he beat out a grounder to shortstop for an infield single. Emilio Bonifacio got the start at shortstop for Wednesday night’s game against the Phillies.
The Marlins called up outfielder Brett Carroll from Triple-A New Orleans to take reliever Chris Leroux’s roster spot. Leroux was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville after allowing one run over two innings in his major league debut Tuesday night.
Carroll was hitting .111 (3 for 27) at New Orleans.
