PHOENIX (AP) -The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed left fielder Eric Byrnes on the 15-day disabled because of sore hamstrings.
The injury has bothered the Arizona outfielder since spring training, manager Bob Melvin said when the move was announced Tuesday, and the decision was made that rest was required. Byrnes had struggled at the plate, hitting just .219 with six home runs and 23 RBIs. Alex Romero was recalled from Triple-A Tucson to take Byrnes’ spot on the roster.
