ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -New York Yankees right-handed reliever Brian Bruney is headed back to the disabled list because of a recurring right elbow strain.
Bruney, who pitched only once since being activated Tuesday from the DL, played catch Monday before the Yankees took on the Texas Rangers. Bruney says his arm doesn’t feel right.
The Yankees said a roster move would be made before Tuesday’s game against the Rangers.
New York manager Joe Giarardi says MRI results show no structural damage.
Bruney has been the Yankees’ primary eighth-inning pitcher when healthy. He is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 10 appearances, but has pitched only once since April 21. He threw a perfect eighth inning Tuesday against Oakland.
