CLEVELAND (AP) -Texas outfielder Josh Hamilton was ejected after arguing a third strike in the sixth inning of the Rangers’ game against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Hamilton went 1-for-3, ending his streak of multihit games at eight in a row, one shy of Rusty Greer’s team record set in 2000.
Hamilton tried to check his swing on a 2-2 pitch and third-base umpire Dale Scott ruled it was a complete swing. Hamilton got back into the batter’s box and showed where he had stopped the bat, then waved at Scott – who waved back.
Plate umpire Bill Hohn then ejected Hamilton, who is hitting .333 hitter and whose 53 RBIs lead the major leagues.
It was Hamilton’s first ejection of the season.
