CINCINNATI (AP) -Reds first baseman Joey Votto was scratched from the lineup Sunday because of dizziness, a condition that cost him 10 starts earlier this month.
Votto hit home runs Saturday against Cleveland in the first two at-bats of his first start since May 16. The flu and dizziness caused by an inner ear infection had forced him to miss several games from May 7-22 and leave two others early.
The symptoms returned Sunday, Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker said.
“He’s still feeling the effects,” Baker said. “We knew it wouldn’t go away overnight.”
