SEATTLE (AP) -Jarrod Washburn has been scratched from his start for the Mariners on Saturday. Garrett Olson will now start against the San Francisco Giants.
Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu said Washburn has tightness above his left knee and the Mariners expect the left-hander to now start Tuesday at Oakland.
Washburn is 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA in eight starts. He allowed a season-high tying six runs in his last start Monday against the Los Angeles Angels. Wakamatsu said the injury was keeping Washburn from pushing off the mound properly with his leg and affecting his control.
Olson pitched 2-3 of an inning of relief Thursday in a loss to the Angels.
The former Baltimore Oriole, acquired in a January trade, made his only start for Seattle on May 16. He allowed a career-high three home runs in six innings and took the loss against Boston.
