MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy has left Milwaukee’s game at Minnesota in the fourth inning because of back spasms.
Hardy got the Brewers’ first hit Friday, a double off the right-field wall in the top of the fourth. He was replaced in the bottom of the inning by Bill Hall, who went to third base while Craig Counsell moved to shortstop and Casey McGehee switched to second base.
Manager Ken Macha said before the game he wanted to give the struggling Hall two days off in this series. Hall came into the game in a 2-for-27 slump.
