ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -The Minnesota Twins placed left-hander Glen Perkins on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and purchased the contract of left-hander Carmen Cali from Triple-A Rochester.
Perkins left Monday night’s game against the Texas Rangers in the eighth inning when he strained a muscle in the back of his left shoulder. The Twins expect Perkins to be out for two weeks.
Also missing from the Twins bullpen is left-hander Dennys Reyes, unavailable due to a sore left shoulder. Reyes will remain on the active roster as he continues to attempt to strengthen the shoulder with exercise and will be examined by team medical personnel when the Twins return home Thursday.
Minnesota also is without right-hander Jesse Crain, who will have season-ending surgery next Tuesday for a right shoulder injury.
Cali was 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and one save in 12 appearances for Rochester.
