DETROIT (AP) -The Texas Rangers turned a triple play in the fourth inning of Wednesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers had runners on first and second, and they took off on Matt Harrison’s 0-1 pitch to Gerald Laird.
Laird hit a line drive to second baseman Ian Kinsler, who flipped to shortstop Elvis Andrus to double Brandon Inge off second. Andrus then took a couple steps to tag Ryan Raburn, who had stopped just short of the base.
It was Texas’ first triple play since 2002 and the first against Detroit since 2006.
It was the third triple play this season. Pittsburgh turned one against Cincinnati on April 12, and Arizona had one against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 5.
