TORONTO (AP) -Los Angeles Angels shortstop Erick Aybar left Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the first inning after dislocating his right pinky while fielding a ground ball.
X-rays on Aybar’s hand were negative, but he will visit a specialist on Wednesday to determine the extent of the damage.
Aybar was injured when dove to his left to snare Alex Rios’ grounder, catching his finger as he spun around to make the throw to first. He came up clutching his pinky and wincing in pain.
Robb Quinlan came on to play third base with Macier Izturis moving from third to shortstop.
Aybar is batting .270 with one home run and 16 RBIs in 43 games this season.
Angels infielders Chone Figgins (right hamstring) and Howie Kendrick (left hamstring) are already on the disabled list, although Figgins could be activated as early as Wednesday.
