CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago White Sox activated Jim Thome from the 15-day disabled list Sunday and optioned outfielder Ryan Sweeney to Triple-A Charlotte.
Thome, on the DL since April 29 with a strained muscle in his rib cage, was called back from a rehab assignment with Charlotte.
Thome is batting .340 with five homers and 10 RBIs in 19 games for the White Sox. Sweeney batted .200 in 15 games with a homer and five RBIs since he was recalled from Charlotte.
