SAN DIEGO (AP) -Cincinnati Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez left Saturday night’s game against the San Diego Padres with an apparent injury with two outs in the sixth inning.
Volquez delivered a pitch to Nick Hundley, then went behind the mound and appeared to be trying to stretch his back as he bent forward at the waist with both arms extended.
Reds manager Dusty Baker and assistant trainer Steve Baumann went to the mound before Volquez was removed from the game.
Volquez left the game with a runner on first base, a 3-0 count on Hundley and a 5-2 lead.
