MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -It’s not quite Wrigley Field, but the Minnesota Twins will have rooftop seating at their new ballpark next year.
The Twins have contributed an extra $55 million toward Target Field, which now has a total price tag of $545 million. The Twins initially committed $130 million and will still pay roughly one-third of the cost.
The project’s adjusted budget was approved by the Minnesota Ballpark Authority on Friday.
Team president Dave St. Peter says a gathering space for 150 to 300 fans will be created with bleacher seating on top of offices and a sports bar near the left-field foul pole.
Design of the plaza behind right field is also taking shape. It will feature statues of star players from the past, including Kirby Puckett.
