SEATTLE (AP) - Tampa Bay second baseman Ben Zobrist has left the game with an apparent injury to his left hand in the fifth inning against Seattle.
Zobrist walked off the field holding his left thumb after sliding head first into second base on a steal attempt Wednesday. Zobrist's hand jammed into the base after he was tagged out by Seattle's Brad Miller. Zobrist immediately yelled in pain. Zobrist had reached base on a one-out single.
He was replaced in the bottom of the fifth by Sean Rodriguez.
