HOUSTON (AP) -The Arizona Diamondbacks activated reliever Juan Cruz from the 15-day disabled list and optioned Dustin Nippert to Triple-A Tucson.
Also Friday, the Diamondbacks placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the restricted list and purchased the contract of infielder Donnie Sadler from Triple-A Tucson.
Callaspo was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting his wife. The 24-year-old rookie was hitting .215 with three RBIs in 93 at-bats.
Sadler, a veteran, was batting .255 with three triples and nine RBIs for Tucson.
The right-handed Cruz has been out since straining a rib muscle on April 19. He's 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in seven appearances.
Nippert, also a righty, was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 appearances this season out of the bullpen.
