PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Atlanta Braves recalled Chuck James from Triple-A Richmond to start Saturday night’s game against the Pirates and placed reliever Buddy Carlyle on the 15-day disabled list with a strained neck.
James was 2-1 with a 7.62 ERA in three starts with Atlanta earlier this season.
Carlyle (0-0, 3.38 ERA) strained his neck when he collided with Kevin Kouzmanoff of San Diego in the fifth inning Thursday night. Carlyle was attempting to tag Kouzmanoff, who had bunted down the first-base line.
