COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) -Stolen base king Rickey Henderson has visited the National Baseball Hall of Fame ahead of his enshrinement in July.
Henderson, the all-time leader in stolen bases and runs scored, took a two-hour tour of the Cooperstown museum on Friday with his wife.
Arguably the game’s greatest leadoff hitter, Henderson will be inducted on July 26 alongside former Boston Red Sox slugger Jim Rice. Late New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians second baseman Joe Gordon will also be honored. He was elected posthumously by the Veterans Committee.
Henderson won election to the Hall of Fame on his first try with 94.8 percent of the vote.
Rice is scheduled to visit the hall on May 15.
