BOSTON (AP) -The Boston Red Sox held a moment of silence for Dom DiMaggio before their game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The former Red Sox center fielder died early Friday morning at the age of 92 at his home in Marion, Mass.
The No. 7 with a large circle around it was cut into the center-field grass from just behind the infield dirt to about 50 feet in front of the warning track. DiMaggio wore the jersey number during 10 full seasons plus three games in 1953, all with the Red Sox.
