NEW YORK (AP) -Victor Martinez was back in the Cleveland Indians’ lineup Wednesday night one day after he was scratched with a stiff neck.
The All-Star catcher was the designated hitter and batting fourth for Cleveland’s game against the New York Yankees. Kelly Shoppach was behind the plate and batting eighth.
“He’s better today and still not able to catch,” Indians manager Eric Wedge said.
Martinez carried a 15-game hitting streak into Wednesday night’s game, batting .344 over that span. He was hitting .347 with no homers and 10 RBIs overall.
