SAN DIEGO (AP) Colin Rea of the San Diego Padres is pitching a no-hitter through six innings against the New York Mets.
The Padres remain the only big league team without a no-hitter. San Diego played its first game in 1969.
Rea had retired 16 straight from the first through sixth innings Thursday night in San Diego. He had struck out three.
The Mets’ only baserunner has been David Wright, who walked with one out in the first.
The 25-year-old Rea was making his 12th big league start, having made his debut last season. He came in with a 2-1 record.
