KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – NASCAR star Clint Bowyer was on hand at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night to watch his beloved Kansas City Royals take on the Cleveland Indians.
A guest of the Royals and manager Ned Yost, Bowyer was given a full uniform – No. 15, of course – and took batting practice and shagged fly balls before the game.
He also threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Bowyer, who grew up in nearby Emporia, Kansas, will head just across the state line to Kansas Speedway this weekend. He is due to start in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race for Michael Waltrip Racing, trying to break out of an early season funk.
He has just two top-10 finishes this season.
