HOUSTON (AP) – Houston Astros outfielder George Springer missed Wednesday night’s game against the Texas Rangers and was being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Springer left Tuesday’s game after making a spectacular catch for the last out of the seventh inning as he ran into the wall. Springer slowly came off the field under his own power and was replaced the next inning.
Springer was still being evaluated, Houston manager A.J. Hinch said before Wednesday’s game. ”He’s still under observation. … Hopefully, we will have a decision on what’s in store for him moving forward.”
The Astros had not made a determination if Springer would make the road trip to Los Angeles to play the Angels, Hinch said.
If Springer has a concussion, Hinch said he would have to go on the 7-day disabled list.
Springer is hitting .192 with four home runs and 12 RBIs this season. Colby Rasmus replaced him in the lineup.
