ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -Minnesota Twins outfielder Michael Cuddyer missed his second straight game Thursday night with a bruised back.
Cuddyer had X-rays, which were negative, before Minnesota played Tampa Bay. The Twins had hoped Cuddyer would returned to the lineup Thursday against the Devil Rays.
“Not good. It’s sorer today than it was yesterday,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. “He feels it more today than yesterday.”
Cuddyer was hurt on a strange play in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game with Tampa Bay. Cuddyer lost his balance rounding second base on Justin Morneau’s two-out single and did a forward roll before being tagged out by third baseman Ty Wigginton. Cuddyer left one inning later.
