OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -The Texas Rangers placed right-handed starter Jason Jennings on the 15-day disabled list Friday night with soreness in his forearm.
Texas recalled left-hander A.J. Murray from Triple-A Oklahoma to start Saturday at Oakland.
Jennings left Tuesday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals after throwing his second pitch of the third inning. He missed nearly three months last season because of a torn tendon in his right elbow while a member of the Houston Astros, and has struggled in his comeback, going 0-5 with an 8.56 ERA in six starts.
Jennings becomes the Rangers’ fourth starting pitcher on the disabled list.
“It is what it is,” manager Ron Washington said Friday before Texas opened a weekend series with the Athletics. “We’ve got what we’ve got.”
Brandon McCarthy (right elbow strain), Kason Gabbard (back) and Luis Mendoza (right elbow inflammation) also are sidelined.
Gabbard is scheduled to make a rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Saturday.
