TORONTO (AP) -The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-hander Gustavo Chacin on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained left elbow. The move is retroactive to April 29.
Chacin is 2-1 with a 5.60 ERA in five starts this season. He gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings in his last start against Texas on Saturday.
The Blue Jays did not immediately call up a replacement for Chacin, and have not yet named a starter for Thursday's game at Cleveland.
Chacin missed almost three months of the 2006 season because of elbow and forearm problems.
