MILWAUKEE (AP) Jonathan Lucroy blooped a single with one out in the ninth inning to break up the combo no-hit bid by the Miami Marlins at Milwaukee.
Lucroy’s hit fell just beyond the dive of second baseman Derek Dietrich in short right field. Dietrich was playing in place of speedy Dee Gordon, who was suspended by Major League Baseball on Thursday night after a positive drug test.
Marlins lefty Adam Conley threw no-hit ball for 7 2/3 innings and was pulled after 116 pitches. Jose Urena relieved and got the last out of the eighth before giving up Lucroy’s hit.
Earlier this month, Ross Stripling of the Los Angeles Dodgers threw no-hit ball for 7 1/3 innings against San Francisco in his major league debut and was taken out after 100 pitches.
