ATLANTA (AP) -Slumping second baseman Kelly Johnson was held out of the Atlanta Braves’ starting lineup for the second straight day.
Braves manager Bobby Cox gave Omar Infante his second straight start for Johnson, who is hitting .203, in Wednesday night’s game against St. Louis.
Infante had a hit, a walk and a run scored in the Braves’ 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night. Infante hit leadoff again on Wednesday night.
Cox said Johnson would be back in the lineup soon.
Johnson has only four hits in his last 39 at-bats for a .103 batting average. He said his swing feels fine even though his average doesn’t show it.
