DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Rockies optioned right-hander Ryan Speier to Triple-A Colorado Springs before Sunday's game with the Atlanta Braves. The Rockies filled the roster spot by recalling right-hander Denny Bautista from Colorado Springs. Speier was 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA in three relief appearances with Colorado. He allowed at least one run in each of his outings. Bautista has no record and a 3.52 ERA in eight appearances for Colorado Springs, all in relief. The 26-year-old has held opposing hitters to a .143 batting average. ``We're trying to do some inventory right now,'' Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said. ``We want to get the best arms in that we can and right now we'll look at Bautista for no more than an inning when he comes into games. |
