CLEVELAND (AP) -Left-hander Aaron Laffey was recalled Monday by the Cleveland Indians and made his season debut by starting the series finale against the New York Yankees.
Laffey, who went 4-2 in nine starts for the Indians last season, opened this year at Triple-A Buffalo, where he was 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA. He was optioned to the Bisons on March 24 after failing to beat out Cliff Lee for the No. 5 starter’s job.
The Indians sent down outfielder Brad Snyder, who was called up Sunday when the Indians sent down Jeremy Sowers.
The left-hander was brought up to make a spot start on Saturday against the Yankees. Sowers pitched 5 1-3 innings and got a no-decision.
