BALTIMORE (AP) -Texas Rangers center fielder Josh Hamilton left Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth inning with inflammation near the left side of his rib cage.
Hamilton beat out an infield hit to lead off the fifth and appeared to walk gingerly for a brief time while conferring with first base coach Gary Pettis. Hamilton stayed in the game, later swiping third as part of a double steal and scoring on Marlon Byrd’s sacrifice fly.
Hamilton was replaced by Byrd in the bottom of the inning, and David Murphy came in to play left.
