ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Carlos Gomez left the Minnesota Twins’ game against the Texas Rangers in the fourth inning Friday night because of a strained left calf muscle.
Gomez, who had beaten out bunts for base hits in his first two at-bats, bunted again in the top of the fourth. Pitcher Kevin Millwood came off the mound and threw to first base to retire Gomez.
The center fielder hit the inside front corner of the base with his right foot and hobbled down the right-field line. He left the field with a trainer, and went immediately to the clubhouse.
Craig Monroe replaced Gomez in the field in the bottom of the inning. The Twins listed Gomez as day to day.
