BOSTON (AP) -Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang is still scheduled to make his next start for New York on Tuesday.
Manager Joe Girardi said Friday that the right-hander might have a foot problem that is affecting his velocity. He was checked out on Thursday by a soft-tissue expert, Dr. Mark Lindsay, the same doctor who has seen Alex Rodriguez.
Wang is scheduled to start next on Tuesday at Detroit. If he doesn’t, Phil Hughes is a likely call-up to replace him.
Wang threw 91 pitches on Thursday in extended spring training, where he was sent after going 0-3 with a 34.50 ERA in his first three starts of the year. He missed the final 3 1/2 months last season with a foot injury but appeared to be healthy during spring training and says he feels fine.
