DENVER (AP) -The Colorado Rockies placed left-handed reliever Micah Bowie on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left forearm and recalled lefty Josh Newman from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.
Bowie, 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and five strikeouts in 10 appearances, pitched in the ninth inning of Colorado’s 9-5 loss to Philadelphia on Monday, surrendering three runs and three hits. His lone decision came in a 5-2 loss to Arizona on April 6 when he allowed three runs in the 10th inning.
The 24-year-old Newman has appeared in five games for the Sky Sox, earning one save and posting a 3.60 ERA in five innings. Newman, a 19th-round 2004 draft pick for Colorado, has made two relief appearances in the majors and has a 4.50 career ERA.
