BOSTON (AP) -Red Sox shortstop Jed Lowrie has had surgery on his left wrist and should be ready to swing a bat in six weeks.
Lowrie, who had the operation Tuesday in Arizona, played with the injured wrist last season. He tried to rehabilitate it during the offseason but went on the disabled list on April 13 after going 1-for-18 in five games.
Boston placed outfielder Rocco Baldelli on the 15-day disabled list after he strained his left hamstring Monday and recalled Jeff Bailey from Triple-A Pawtucket.
