TORONTO (AP) – Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista returned to the lineup for Friday’s game against the New York Yankees after missing four games with a sore back.
The two-time home run champion batted third and started as the designated hitter against Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte. Manager John Gibbons said Bautista will remain the DH for the three games against New York and likely return to right field in next week’s series at Baltimore.
Bautista, who missed three games earlier this month with a sore right ankle, has only played in 10 of Toronto’s 17 games, including Friday. He came in hitting .200 with three homers and six RBIs.
