CINCINNATI (AP) – The Cincinnati Reds are starting to come around following their worst start in two decades.
Closer Aroldis Chapman is throwing off the mound again. Jonathan Broxton is back to pitching the ninth inning. An offense that was among the most wasteful in the majors for two weeks is starting to knock them out of the park at an impressive rate.
The Reds won their first series of the season and took back-to-back games for the first time with a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Johnny Cueto pitched a three-hitter for his third career shutout.
Cincinnati opened the season with eight players on the disabled list, the most in the majors. They’re getting players back and getting big contributions from them.
