CHICAGO (AP) – Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 596th career homer Thursday, a three-run drive that gave the Cincinnati Reds an 8-2 lead over the Chicago Cubs.
Griffey drove a pitch from Jon Lieber into the center-field bleachers for his third homer of the season. The 38-year-old Griffey has homered off 380 pitchers.
Griffey trails Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), Willie Mays (660) and Sammy Sosa (609) on the career home-run list.
