WASHINGTON (AP) -The Washington Nationals sent rookie outfielder Kory Casto to Triple-A Columbus after Tuesday night’s 6-4 loss to Atlanta and planned to bring up outfielder Michael Restovich from that minor league affiliate.
Casto, who never played above Double-A before joining the Nationals in the season’s first week, was hitting .172. He went 5-for-29 without an extra-base hit.
“We want Kory Casto to play every day,” manager Manny Acta said. “Also, that’ll give us a chance to have some power from the right-hand side off the bench.”
Casto is a left-handed hitter; Restovich bats righty.
